NOTICE OF RECEIPT OF BIDS FOR
HUNTING AND FISHING LEASES OF SCHOOL TRUST LANDS
NOTICE is hereby given that the Board of Trustees of the Vicksburg Warren School District will receive sealed bids for an agricultural lease on that certain tract of school trust lands more particularly described as follows:
Tract 1: This section is located on Kings Point Island in the west central part of the county. It is commonly known as the Kings Point Section. This section contains approximately 643.92 acres of land. There are 533 acres of forest land. The 112 acres of non-forest land is primarily water. All of Section 16, Township 17 North, Range 3 East, Warren County, Mississippi, (643.92 acres, Kings Point).
Minimum bid $6,440.00.
Tract 2: This section is located approximately 6 miles southwest of Yokena on the Claiborne County line, in the southwestern part of the county. It is commonly known as the Bogue Desha section, since Little Bogue Desha forms the southern border of the section. This section contains approximately 236 acres of land. The 9 acres of non-forest land is primarily access roads. All of Section 14, Township 13 North, Range 2 East, Warren County, Mississippi, (275.50 acres, Bogue Desha).
Minimum bid $8,250.00.
All checks must be payable to the Vicksburg Warren School District. All information must be mailed to Vicksburg Warren School District, 1500 Mission 66th, Vicksburg, Mississippi 39180.
The term of the lease will be for five (5) years beginning July 1, 2026, and expiring June 30, 2031. Bids will be received at the Superintendent of Education’s office, 1500 Mission 66, Vicksburg, Mississippi, at any time prior to 5:30 p.m. on April 30, 2026. The bids will be opened by the Superintendent of Education or his designee at the School Board meeting which will begin on or about 5:30. Bids should be made on the forms available at the Superintendent’s office and should be accompanied by certified or cashier’s check in the sum of ten (10%) percent of the annual rental bid, which said deposit will be returned if the bid is not accepted. Bids shall be submitted in sealed envelopes plainly marked on the outside of the envelope “BID FOR HUNTING & FISHING LEASE.” All terms and conditions are set forth in the proposed lease now on file with the Superintendent of Education and available for inspection by any prospective bidder.
All bidders are advised that an auction may be held among those who submit sealed bids, and the auction may be held at the meeting at which the sealed bids are opened or at a subsequent regular or special meeting. Notice of the time and place of the auction, if any, will be announced at the meeting at which the sealed bids are opened. Therefore, all bidders are advised to be present at the opening of the sealed bids either in person or through a duly authorized representative, to protect their rights to participate in an auction. This lease is being advertised and awarded pursuant to provisions of Miss. Code Ann. §29-3-81. The Board of Trustees of the Vicksburg Warren School District reserves the right to reject any
and all bids.
